Early Life
Born August 25, 1919
Died September 13, 1998
He was born in Clio, Alabama
The son of a farmer, he had two brothers; Jack and Gerald, and a sister; Marianne.
His parents were George Corley Wallace, and Mozell Smith Wallace.
George was fascinated with politics at the age of ten, and claimed he'd be the governor someday.
He went directly to law school at the University of Alabama upon graduating.
He was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
He enrolled in the army, and served under General Curtis Lemay, who would later be his running mate.
He fought in Japan, but came down with spinal meningitis, and was given leave.
Politics
*In 1945 he became the assistant attorney general of Alabama, and won his first election the the Alabama House of Representatives in 1946.
He was elected Circuit Judge in the Third Judicial Circuit of Alabama.
*In 1958, he ran for governor but was defeated by John Patterson.
*In 1962, George Wallace was elected governor, in quite the victory.
